UAV Program

Background

In 2021 the Platte County Sheriff’s Office was able to start a drone program and continues to build it. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV), commonly referred to as “drones”, provide Deputy Sheriffs with the ability to make observations from an overhead, aerial position and provide vital updates to first responders in a variety of crucial public safety missions. UAV may collect and store still images, video footage, and location data. The Platte County Sheriff’s Office currently has two DJI UAV in inventory. The use of UAV provides for immediate deployment throughout our communities and improved efficiency.

Currently, Deputy Travis Whipple supervises the UAV program.
