The Platte County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, which was completed in July 2002, is comprised of eight jail pods. The Platte County Sheriff's Office will fill vacant cells with contract prisoners from surrounding counties, DOC, and the U.S. Marshal's Office. The Platte County Sheriff's Office has routinely rented cell space to other agencies for the past 22 years. The Detention Center currently holds a maximum of 92 inmates. The facility is staffed by the following: Captain (Administrator), Lieutenant (Deputy Administrator), four sergeants, one transport sergeant, eight deputies, a nurse, and four cooks.
This division is also responsible for transporting those who are U.S. Marshal inmates to and from court and to other facilities. This is done in partnership with the U.S. Marshals. This division also has to pick up and arrange transport for anyone arrested on a Warrant out of Platte County.
