Undersheriff Ward McConahay
Undersheriff McConahay was appointed to his position in January of 2023 by Sheriff Russell. He plays an instrumental role in keeping the agency functioning when the Sheriff is gone. Ward started with the Platte County Sheriff's Office in November of 2007 as a Deputy in the Detention Division. He later moved to Nebraska to work as a patrol officer. In May of 2012, he returned to Wyoming and was a Police Officer for the Town of Guernsey. During this time he trained a K9 named Chloe to become a detection K9. In August of 2015, Ward returned to the Platte County Sheriff's Office as a K9 Deputy until being appointed as Undersheriff. During his career in law enforcement Ward achieved several things, including Taser Instructor, K9 Lead, Drug Recognition Expert, Field Training Officer, and Active Shooter Instructor among many others.
Captain William Kirlin
Captain Kirlin was appointed to his position by Sheriff Russell in October of 2022. He also answers to the Sheriff and is a part of the Sheriff's Command Staff Team. Will is instrumental in many different areas within the department and ensures a smooth operation. Will started with the Platte County Sheriff's Office in October of 2010 as a Deputy within Detention. Will has held several positions during his time at the Platte County Sheriff's Office, including Sergeant Detention, Lieutenant Detention, Deputy Patrol, Sergeant Patrol, and K9Handler. During the majority of his career, he was also a member of the Wyoming National Guard. Will has also achieved many things during his law enforcement career including K9 Handler, Field Training Officer, Fire Arms Instructor, and Active Shooter Instructor just to name a few. He continues to grow in many areas in his law enforcement career and has been instrumental in updating Detention Division policy and procedure.

Dispatch Supervisor Meraina McGuire
Raina was promoted to Dispatch Supervisor in September of 2023 by Sheriff Russell. Raina is part of the Sheriff's Command Staff Team. Raina has played a large part in updating our remodeled Dispatch Facility. Raina has been with the Platte County Sheriff's Office since November 2015. During this time, she has worked as a Dispatcher and assisted in various roles during that time. This includes Field Training Officer, E911, and working towards other developmental areas. Since taking this position, Raina has coordinated dispatch services during several large wildland fires. These types of events are extra stressful for dispatch, due to the number of calls coming in on it and the amount of first responders on the scene.
