Welcome to Platte County, Wyoming

We are proud to call Platte County one of the most beautiful places in Wyoming, a county with a rich history, including being home to Steamboat for a time. Platte County is not only a wonderful place to live but also a great place to work. On behalf of my department and myself, I want to thank you for living, working, and visiting here.

As an elected official, the Office of Sheriff in Wyoming is constitutionally mandated and holds the distinction of being the only elected law enforcement position in the state. As your elected Sheriff, I am directly accountable to the people of Platte County. My role is not governed by any individual but by you, the voters. The Sheriff is the highest-ranking law enforcement officer in the county, and it is my duty to serve you.

An effective law enforcement agency is built on trust, and maintaining that trust is our primary goal at the Platte County Sheriff’s Office. I understand that safety goes beyond responding to calls; it requires fostering and maintaining strong relationships with our residents, businesses, non-profits, and public safety partners. Together, we can create a safer Platte County for everyone. Personally, I take great pride in working with children who face challenging situations, helping them navigate through tough times—and that is a commitment I share with my team.

I operate under an open-door policy, both with my staff and the public. While I am often in and out of the office, patrolling or responding to calls, I am always happy to meet with you.
