Information for Candidates
Filing for Office
To file for office, you must:
- Fill out the appropriate form. (See the forms page for more information)
- Pay the $25 filing fee to the County Clerk's Office
- Read the Campaign Guide
- File the Receipts Only Financial form by its due date
- File the Receipts & Expenditures Financial form by its due date.
If you are filing for a municipal office, you will need to file your application through your local Town Hall.

Requirements
To run for public office you must first be a registered voter in Platte County. Additionally, there are specific requirements for some offices.
Additional Qualifications for Office
| All County Offices |
No person except a qualified elector (registered Platte County voter) shall be elected or appointed to any civil or military office in the state. (Wyo. Constitution, Art. 6, Sec. 15) |
| County Assessor |
In addition to being a qualified elector, the county assessor shall own real property in the county in which he/she is elected. (W.S. 18-3-201) |
| County Attorney |
In addition to being a qualified elector, the county attorney shall be a member of the bar of Wyoming. (W.S. 18-3-301) |
| District Offices |
You must live in the district for which you are running. |
| Misc Offices |
For some positions additional certifications and/or credentials may be required after taking office. Please refer to Wyoming State Statutes for information regarding each office. |
